Enhanced search capabilities for evidence-based research. We are proud to introduce this new PubMed search stool that searches all PubMed articles at the abstract level and all open access PubMed articles at the full text level. It is a two stage search. The first stage identifies up to 200 articles by matching selected keywords to the article and abstract. Automated PICO extraction of PICO text snippets is carried out on the the abstract. Second stage allows full text PICO extraction from the full set subset of the articles returned in the first stage of the search, plus the option of carrying out a second full text search for a target word within this group of return articles. All matched snippets gut be exported to CSV. Note we are not affiliated with PubMed
Search beyond abstracts to find content within the complete text of PubMed Central open-access articles. This approach helps locate studies where important details appear in methods, results, or discussion sections.
Automatically identify Population, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome elements from search results. This structured approach organizes findings according to evidence-based practice frameworks. The tool analyses all matched PICO statements; has high sensitivity with reduced specificity
Build complex PubMed-style queries using visual operators. The guided interface helps construct proper Boolean syntax with AND, OR, NOT operators and parenthetical grouping.
Download structured CSV files for evidence tables, PRISMA documentation, and systematic review workflows. Save effective search strategies for tracking updates over time.
Start with plain clinical terms, PICO elements, or existing Boolean queries. Examples include "thyroid ablation" or "benign nodules treatment."
Choose between keyword scanning, PICO extraction, or Boolean query building based on your specific research needs.
Examine results with PICO classifications and keyword context snippets to quickly assess relevance and content.
Download structured data for further analysis or import into review management software and evidence tables.
These examples demonstrate how to structure effective search queries:
("thyroid nodule" OR "benign thyroid") AND ablation AND ultrasound
Searches for thyroid ablation procedures using ultrasound guidance
("diabetes mellitus" AND "lifestyle intervention") NOT pediatric
Focuses on adult diabetes lifestyle interventions
(COVID-19 OR SARS-CoV-2) AND (vaccine efficacy OR antibody response)
Combines coronavirus terms with vaccine effectiveness measures
Note: This tool searches the PubMed Central Open-Access Subset. It operates independently and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, or PubMed. For comprehensive literature searching, consider using this tool in combination with the official PubMed interface.
The tool supports evidence-based practice, systematic reviews, clinical question formulation, and research project development. Its full-text search capability extends beyond abstract-only searching to help researchers locate studies where key information appears in different article sections.
